Culture Fit vs. Culture Add

Company culture is important & should not be ignored.

But, hiring managers need to be aware of the difference in hiring for culture fit vs. culture add.

Culture Fit is the likelihood that someone will reflect and be able to adapt to the core beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that make up your organization.

Culture Add is the likelihood that someone will bring a set of diverse opinions, experiences, and skills which enhances the overall company culture.

The problem with just hiring for CULTURE FIT is that it can facilitate bias & lead to a homogenous culture.

When you hire for CULTURE ADD, you are valuing other opinions and 'ways of doing' and are thus increasing diversity and innovation, which then impacts the bottom line.

Companies who hire international talent must be aware that, at first glance, international hires might not seem like a Cultural Fit.... They are most likely a Culture Add.

Embrace the different perspectives & ways of working. This is how global organizations are built.
